C'est sur. Mais à la base, cette personne fait de la MAN pas du EPP. Donc si ses oiseaux ont confiance, pourquoi pas. La plupart des gros cacatoes vendus sont EAM. Je trouve intéressant de pouvoir utiliser une autre méthode et ici les oiseaux peuvent grandir en groupe. C'est tellement RARE avec ce genre d'espèce! Si l'on regarde de près leur volière extérieure, ces oiseaux sont traités comme des oiseaux...
J'ai trouvé un texte en anglais où cette personne explique la situation.
Pour ceux qui comprennent l'anglais:
" The birds you can see in the videos are
Tina & Willi, our breeding pair,
their babys from 2009, 2010 and 2011,
Klara & Gustav, the two pluckers, we bought last year and
Gitti & Piet, the youngest pair.
Tina was bought 2004 in a shop as a male U2.
When we arrived at home, I could see her eyes for the first time in the sunlight
About one year later, we bought a really male U2 as a companion for the first.
At that time, we never thought about breeding, we only wanted to keep 2 happy birds.
They lived together with two very old goffins and all went the normal way, until the male got 3,5 y/o and there were two eggs found in the nest.
For the fact, that both parental birds are handraised cockatoos, we thought first, that they are not able to breed or raise youngsters.
So we looked from the first day to see, if something`s going wrong.
The only thing, that was quite unusual, was the fact, that both birds invited us to look into the nest.
Even when my wife tried to take the first videos, both left the nest for a while and looked interested, what`s going on there.
After a few minutes they returned back into the nest to keep the eggs / babys warm.
For the first 32 days all went fine, but then the female began to pluck the youngsters.
We decided to seperate them, so that the youngsters lived in a montana-cage beside the parent`s aviary.
In that time we brought the youngsters about 3 hours a day into the parent`s aviary, but in these hours one of us had to sit there to prevent the female from plucking her babys.
After about 2 ½ weeks the female stopped doing such bad things and all lived together again.
We sold the two youngsters in the age of 6 months to a family, where they have an own room inside and a large aviary outside.
We are in contact with the new owners since these two years and they are happy with their two cockatoos yet.
In the following year Tina had a bad result in mathematics, she counted wrong and put 3 eggs into the nest.
All three babys got out of the egg, but the last and smallest one lost weight in the first days.
So we feeded him by hand, but he had to live with his family.
When the oldest baby was 5 weeks old, we bought an additional baby in the netherlands.
Piet was 10 weeks old and hand raised, so he had to learn all about family live here.
It took 3 days, then he lived together with all the others.
All 4 babys are grown up, the two males from our pair are sold to two familys, where the first one lives with three other cockatoos and two Vasa parrots.
The other one lives with a nice female umbrella x sulphur crested cockatoo.
The remaining pair, Gitti and Piet were ordered by nice people, who already owned two U2s.
But those people got problems with the neighborhood, so that I decided to keep this dreampair for myself.
In that year we visited a large breeder with a friend, who wanted to buy a moluccan there.
When we looked around there, my wife discovered two plucked U2s.
She decided to take them (to help them).
That way we got Klara & Gustav.
This year Tina didn`t pluck her babys, but with the good experiences of the last years we do all the same things, without separating them after 32 days.
At the moment we have an additional female U2 (Lisa) here, the partner for the male youngster (Paul) this year.
She is hand raised and totally attached to her owners, but she began to pluck.
So she lives here for 2 months to learn to be a bird, before her owners get her back with her new husband.
So I hope I could explain, what we do and why we do that.
It`s even pure fun for the owner to live with happy birds, and so we have really a lot of fun.
