Merci Mijo!
QUESTION
We looked at the 306 or 406 cages. From your experience, do you think these models are ok for a mollucan? We saw your special lock for doors, but are they "cockatoo proof"? On our actual cage, we need to put a second lock on every door and we would like to avoid it...
And also we hesitate between stainless vs painting. How long will your painting last with a cockatoo? And with a stainless cage, could we expect a very long life, like 30 years? And we didn't see any aluminum cage thay would be suitable for our cockatoo, but do you have a suggestion? Thank you very much!
ANSWER
When considering a cage for a bird, you really do want to get the biggest that you possibly can. Especially for the larger birds like cockatoos and macaws as they themselves are large in size. If you are hesitant between the 306 and 406- bigger is definitely better (406)! Plenty of room to play and spread their wings, not to mention hanging toys, extra perches, etc.
To answer your questions:
Our "bird-proof" locks have proven to be just such. We have yet to have a customer call and say that their bird has mastered these locks. While I cannot promise you that your bird cannot undo them, we have had a very good success rate.
Regarding stainless vs. powder-coated (painted): If you have the means for a stainless steel cage then by all means do not even think twice! Your bird has one of the strongest beaks in the world, and just in case his/her favorite thing to do is hack away at the bars all day- you won't have to worry about chipping with stainless and it is very strong. It will most certainly be a cage to last you a very long time.
That being said our powder coatings are very strong, and with regular wear and tear will last you 15 years or better. Some of our older customers have had our cages that long and still love them. Again, this does depend on YOUR bird and if they take to chewing on the birds or not, we cannot foresee this.
We do not make aluminum cages for the larger birds. Aluminum is a softer metal and can be bent by the strong birds so unfortunately this is not an option for your birdy.
